Personal Statement:

Therapeutic Approach: I believe therapy is successful when you feel more comfortable with yourself and others. This is achieved through overcoming obstacles in life, working through emotions, perceiving and understanding yourself and relationships in a more holistic and congruent way. I help my clients see things in different perspectives, organize their thoughts and experiences, learn new tools to cope with life’s challenges, find themes that helps shed light to their struggles and form deeper relationships with themselves and others. This can be achieved within a trusting and collaborative relationship between you and me. My therapy approach is influenced by psychodynamic theories and mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT). I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. I also provide mindfulness groups (MBCT and Mindfulness Based Stress Management) that help client learn and practice mindfulness as a path to find inner calmness and insights. I am fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese and enjoy providing therapy in these languages. I specialize in: Mood disorders Anxiety Adapting to transitions in life Relationship concerns Stress management Intercultural adjustment Chronic Illness Loss and Grief Background: I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of California, Los Angeles and Doctor of Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology. I have been licensed as a clinical psychologist in California since 2008 and have clinical experiences for over 15 years. Prior to joining Crossroads Institute, I worked as a staff psychologist at UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services and Pacific Clinics. I was an adjunct professor at Argosy University teaching counseling theories, ethics and professionalism. I have completed my two years postdoctoral fellowship at Reiss-Davis Child Study Center, focusing on psychodynamic and psychoanalytic treatment for children and families. I have also received trainings at Vista Del Mar Child and Family Center, Airport Marina Counseling Center and Verdugo Mental Health Center (Adult Outpatient Unit). I have completed the Certification in Mindfuless Facilitation from UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center and am currently working as a teaching assistant in the program.
